SB249 - Stripping away rights faster than I can strip my 92FS.

Okay, so for those of you out there that don't know there is a new bill that they are trying to pass for California that will amend the already determined law(s) on assault weapons and firearms in general.

Someone asked me after telling them about the petition."Isn't it already illegal to own an assault weapon?"

To which I responded the following long response.

"The assault weapons ban only bans certain features... pistol grips, collapsible stocks, bayonet lugs, detachable magazines, and flash suppressors. I may be missing a few. The legislature reads that if have a fixed magazine, one that can be removed only by using a tool, that it is not considered an assault weapon, just a rifle. Not pertaining to SB249 but if you don't have a pistol grip or flash suppressor, it's also considered a rifle. The bullet button is a conversion piece that you can put on a lower receiver of an AR or AK or similar type, to convert it to have a fixed magazine, thus making our pseudo assault weapons legal. Senator Yee is trying to ban that conversion. My biggest issue with this is that it is part of the bigger agenda of getting rid of our second amendment right. The reason I say that is because of the strict laws already in place in California a handgun, rifle, or shotgun is more lethal, there is nothing about an AR-15 that makes it more lethal than any of those other weapons that are already legal. There are various rifles that are magazine fed that use larger calibers and some that are not magazine fed so they have a higher capacity. Handgun rounds are larger than an 7.62 (AK47 caliber) and maybe most don't know that. The ban against the bullet button is pointless in my opinion because the laws that are already present, 10 round magazines, no suppressors, etc lower any sort of difference between different firearms."

Now my post there could have been a bit better but I wrote it in haste and in the heat of the moment. The most important thing that I really could add to that is that the legislature is clear on the definition of an assault weapon and that's really the important part here because that in essence is what they are trying to change. That being said, I appreciate anyone's support on this matter. If you have any questions comment and I will try to get a solid answer for you, or you can visit that calguns website www.calguns.net.

G.Skill Ripjaws X

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB 2x 8GB... Shit just got real.
(Note not the best ram but a good deal.)

As time goes by I am painfully reminded of all the new technology that is constantly booming into existance.
These Ripjaws are just one of the many things that I want to add to my already full arsenal. I mean not that 16GB is really excessive anymore. The simple truth is my system is still just a 4GB system. Does it run fine? Absolutely. Can it run better? Of course it can! Do I need 16gb of RAM? Not necessarily. Can it be justified!? ... ... Maybe... Maybe. My current setup is a decent one.
  • Windows XP professional 64
  • Intel Q6600 2.4 Quad-Core
  • 4GB G.Skill
  • Asus ATI HD 4870 Dark Knight edition 1GB
Various other parts that aren't as impressive or important.

The RAM looks great has a high capacity and has amazing timings what more could you really want out of your RAM. I guess the only bad thing is if maybe you run a small case the stylish fins might be in your way or take up precious room. I haven't picked these up yet. When I do I may post a review rather than an interest piece. There are plenty of reviews on Newegg though to help formulate your own opinion or move you to purchase or not.

I do however want a new box.... sooner rather than later.

Magic 2013

Magic 2013 Core Set image gallery is up. I feel like there are a lot of really great reprints in this set. A lot of cards we all know and love as well as some ones we may not. The gallery really gives insight to the kinds of decks we will see being made and used for a while.

Elderscale Wurm has got to be one of my favorites, not that I play a ton of green but it is really just a great card. With green always having plenty of mana-ramp you can expect to see this in most green decks it is almost too broken to not include it, unless you are running elves or something else not revolving around large creatures.

They re-printed Primordial Hydra this card has always been a favorite just because it's cheap, gets huge, and usually a game winner.

They also re-printed Stuffy Doll, lucky though, no Pariah. It's shaping up to be a really good set in my opinion not just with the reprints but with a few new planeswalkers as well.
